Calmed my mind with gardening

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I am super excited. You all know how much gardening means to Jason and me. On this page, I will be able to tell you all about the ups and downs of running a small gardening business. Today I started early at 7:30 am. The sun was already up, but the garden was still in the shade. Everything is so green and so fresh. I love mornings because this is the time when everything comes alive: the birds are chirping, the bees are buzzing and I have lots of energy. I went out with excitement to do some work. I started with weeding the bean garden. I love weeding because it gives me a peace of mind. It is kind of meditation but more. My mind can run back and forth and I am able to think about many things, at the same time, I am touching the soil and taking care of my vegetables so they can grow big and healthy. It is interesting to me that I love to be dirty. I love it so much because I am connecting with earth and because it is so satisfying. Of course I have to be careful while weeding because as you know I still have a pinch nerve in my neck. I weeded with my right hand first then my left and changed them back and forth. Luckily this works and do not put too much demand on my right hand. After an hour weeding, I finished the bean bed and I found my arms both hands, and both knees super dirty. I felt I was a kid who was playing on the play ground. I still had a half an hour. I was wondering what else should I do. I knew if I start another garden I won't stop until I finish, so decided not to jump into another bed for weeding. Instead I pulled out the already blooming arugula and weeded out the small portion of the celery. Nice work I told myself and went inside to take a shower. When I work in the garden I always feel I am home. I remember weeding in our garden in Hungary and on the vineyard where we had lots of vegetables in between the grape vines. Ohh well this is home now. But you know I can't forget my roots. Later on, I had to go back to the garden to pick vegetables for Jerry my friend. I picked cherry tomatoes, Black Krim tomatoes, a bunch of parsley, a head of kohlrabi, a purple onion, and a bunch of sorrel. While I was waiting for her, I found harlequin bugs on the blooming kale. I became very irritated. We are working so hard and these bugs just show up and try to have a feast for free. No way! I grabbed a glove and started to smash them. I had to mention that last year these bugs ate all of our kale; therefore, they had to go. I killed them all or I thought I did. Then I showed the garden to Jerry and she went home happy with super fresh vegetables. After dinner, the garden was still calling me. Those bugs did not leave me alone. What if they will eat all of our kale this year again? It would be a disaster, not only because I began loving kale but because we have many different type this year: Red Russian, White Russian, Portuguese, and Tuscan kale. I grabbed three garbage bags, I thought it would be enough for the kale plants and went to the garden. I have to say that those kale plants were already blooming and the leaves began dying, so it was time to pull them out. They were so big that I only could put one kale plant into each garbage bag. Then I decided to grab the garbage can and shoved the giant plants into it. While I was doing it, I saw many harlequin bugs, some procreating. I had to kill those too. My rage was over when I was able to close the garbage can. It was super satisfying it was unbelievable. Those bugs who did not die today they will be trapped. Haha. I hope I won't see them again. The day of gardening was still not over because the sun did not go down yet, so I started weeding again, This was a bed of crowder peas, which was not that bad; the weeds were present only here and there and I found myself finishing it very quickly. In the same bed, we have some Bulls Blood Beets I weeded out those too. I just finished and it began raining. This was the time to go inside to take another shower, rest, and ice my neck. Happy gardening you all!
